Paul's practice has encompassed a wide range of criminal defence work, before the Court of Appeal, Crown Court and Magistrates' Court. He has particular experience of cases concerning serious violence (including murder), commercial fraud (and other high value dishonesty offences), and robbery. He has represented many clients in large scale public disorder matters, a number of which have featured organised football hooliganism.

Paul has also defended numerous motoring prosecutions, including multiple fatality road traffic accidents.

His family work has concerned Children's Act proceedings (most commonly contact and residence issues), and has extensive experience in the areas of domestic violence injunctions and breach proceedings.
