Barry's practice includes all areas of criminal defence work, but with particular emphasis on the most serious offences.

He has defended clients in a number of the region's most substantial 'carousel' V.A.T frauds (concerning sums in excess of £50 million) usually featuring allegations of a wide ranging conspiracy between multiple defendants.

He has extensive experience of cases involving homicide, violence and dishonesty before the Court of Appeal and Crown Court. Cases concerning the supply of class A drugs and the use of firearms have also been a staple of his work.

Barry is a former colliery engineer and was made an honorary Doctor of Law by Staffordshire University in 2000.
